What is Worldschooling?

Close-up of a child's legs wearing ripped jeans and red sneakers, sitting on steps next to a gray backpack with a pink notebook and a tablet inside. Hand holding the backpack's handle visible. Brightly colored drawn elements include yellow stars, a blue squiggly line, and red dots on the ground.

The World is the Classroom

Worldschooling is all about stepping outside the walls of traditional education systems using local resources in the location you are in as the springboard to rich learning.

Adult hugging a tree with a yellow heart sketch and pink rays around head, green leaf sketches on trunk.

Learning by Living

Learning happens everywhere - through travel, cultural experiences, nature, and real-life adventures. It’s education in action - messy, exciting, and unforgettable.

Raising Global Citizens

Choosing this life helps kids (and parents!) develop open minds, empathy, and adaptability by connecting with people and places around the globe.

One list to rule…the worldschool

We have built a database of 100+ worldschooling opportunities! The power is in your hands to filter by pedagogy, budget, duration, involvement - or mix parameters to find your unique fit.

Zero in on your needs

We’ve scoured the internet, spent months in the groups and spoken to everyone we know who has gone to a cool place somewhere far flung and we’ve put it all in a searchable/filterable database.

Search by drop-off vs hands-on, duration, age, style.

Peer reviewed updated records

Kids grow and programs change, and so to will our database. Count on us to keep it updated and the community of parents to add their knowledge. Adding that total peace of mind so you can pack your bags and get out there!

Your Go-to Community for travelling families.

Worldschooling is incredible - but let’s be so real, it’s even better when you find your community.

Worldschooled is also the space to connect with parents who get it. Swap stories, share hacks, ask the questions you can’t ask anywhere else, and build friendships that last beyond a single trip or hub.

✨ Real families, living this life right now
✨ A supportive space with less judegement and more encouragement.
✨ Conversations that are practical, honest, and fun

Because the best part of worldschooling isn’t just the places you go - it’s the people you go with.

Come for the resources. Stay for the friendships!

Collage of photos with colorful doodles and text, featuring two mothers with their children outdoors, including a vineyard in Tuscany, a lake in the Dolomites with mountains, and playgrounds in the Balkans, celebrating their travels.

It started with frustration: Why is the info so difficult/time consuming to find? Where’s the community? Where are my people at?

Turns out, the answer was to build it ourselves.

hi, we’re Wendy & Katinka

We’re full-time traveling mamas, passionate about teaching our kids how to move through and learn from the world. After a year of “living the dream,” we realized two big things we’re missing:

  1. No central place to easily find and share worldschooling info.

  2. How tough it is to build - and keep - connections once you leave a program, hub or destination.

Fate brought us together at a program in Italy (and who are we to fight the alchemy?!), after swapping notes on the highs and lows, we knew we had to team up. The result? A platform for families like us: to find, to learn, to belong.

Our aha moment: this isn’t just about us, it’s about empowering families everywhere to make the leap into this incredible life. So we built what we wished already existed.

 FAQ’s

  • Worldschooling is a lifestyle and educational approach where the world becomes your family’s classroom.

It’s about using travel, real-life experiences, and cultural immersion to help your kids (and you!) learn, grow, and explore—outside the walls of a traditional school.

Worldschooling can look different for every family:

    • Some families travel full-time.

    • Some take extended trips a few times a year.

    • Some combine travel with homeschooling or online learning.

    • Some stay rooted in one place but prioritize global awareness, cultural experiences, and hands-on learning.

    • Some move from hub to hub. Country to country.

    • Some do it fast, some do it slow.

    • Some move from location to location using various forms of transportation.

    At its core:

Worldschooling is about curiosity, connection, and building an education—and a life—that works for your family, wherever you are in the world.

There’s no one right way to do it.
    There’s just your way.

  • Nope! Worldschooling isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Some families travel full-time, some take big trips once a year, some save their summers for living differently, some explore their own countries with fresh eyes.

Whether you’re slow traveling, part-timing —it all counts.

  • Think of it like weaving, not balancing. Some days are rich with hands-on, real-life learning (think temples, cooking classes, and navigating new cities).

Other days you might lean into more structured schooling—workbooks, or project-based learning. It’s about finding your own rhythm.

Spoiler: learning happens all the time when you’re out in the real world.

  • This is such a common worry—and it’s a great question. Worldschooling kids make friends in all kinds of places: travel hubs, local playgrounds, worldschool meetups, online communities, and even through shared adventures with other traveling families. Socialisation looks different on the road, but it’s absolutely there. Often, kids develop deep, meaningful friendships—just sometimes in shorter bursts.

This goes for the parents too.

  • There’s no magic formula, but many families make this work by:

    • Traveling slowly (it’s usually much more affordable!)

    • Working remotely or freelancing

    • Budgeting intentionally

    • Swapping expensive destinations for affordable gems

We’ll be sharing tips, family budgets, and real-world hacks inside the community to help you figure out what might work for your family.

One thing to note, mistakes cost money and we’re here to help mitigate those mistakes!

  • This is one of our biggest priorities!

We’ve got you covered. Inside the community, we’re building a go-to database of tried-and-true hubs, a library worthy resources of must-have apps/shortcuts to thirve at this life and of course a direct line of communication straight from other families who’ve been there/done that.

  • Absolutely! Whether you’re in the dreaming, planning, or mid-adventure stage, you belong here.

This is a space for beginners, seasoned travelers, and everyone in between. No experience required - just a core value match, curiosity and a sense of adventure. match.

  • Childhood belongs out in the world - on beaches, in markets, up mountains, and through cultures.
The world itself is the greatest teacher, and families who choose curiosity over convention are shaping the future.

We believe in balance. Nature heals, medicine matters, and science leads the way. This is a no-BS space that welcomes every walk of life. Curiosity, respect, and real talk are what help families thrive anywhere.

Worldschooled exists to connect these families into a global village.
A place where kids grow up seeing the world as home, where parents find the support they need to keep going, and where learning is woven into life, not locked behind walls.

Our purpose is simple: build a worldwide movement of families raising the next generation to be adventurous, resilient, and endlessly curious.
